Good deal on a .com domain

I was looking to register a new .com domain and checked a few places. Hostpoint had a good offer for new customers on the first year, which felt like a solid saving. The registration process was straightforward enough, and I got my domain active pretty quickly. Overall, it was worth the purchase for the price I paid.

Solid hosting, minor hiccup

I picked up their Webhosting package and also registered a new .shop domain. The hosting performance has been good, my site loads fast, and the control panel is easy enough to navigate for someone with a bit of technical knowledge. The FreeSSL was a nice bonus. My only minor gripe was that setting up the email forwarders took a little longer to propagate than I expected, maybe an hour or so, but it eventually worked. Customer service was helpful when I asked about it. Pretty good overall value for what you get.

Reliable service again

I've been with Hostpoint for a couple of years now, mostly for domain registrations and some email hosting. This time, I transferred a .ch domain over. It went just as smoothly as my previous experiences. Their system is consistent, and I appreciate not having to worry about issues cropping up. That reliability is why I keep coming back.

I'm in the US, so how secure are my website's data if I host with them? I heard they're a Swiss company.

G Greg 2 months ago
Super secure, I think. Their data centers are all in Switzerland which has really strict privacy laws.

Yeah, if data privacy is a big concern, Swiss hosting is generally considered top-tier. My client specifically asked for it.

Thinking about their WordPress hosting. Is it actually optimized for WP or just a generic plan they call 'WordPress hosting'?

C Colin 2 months ago
It's decent for WP. I've been running a small blog on it for a while and it's been pretty stable.

From what I understand, they do have specific optimizations for WordPress. It's not just a basic plan renamed, afaik.

Do they offer any discounts for new web hosting customers? Trying to set up a new site and every little bit helps.

N Noor 2 months ago
Definitely! They usually have a good promo for new hosting. I got 50% off my first year when I signed up.

Yep, there's almost always a new customer deal. Just make sure to look for it, it's usually applied at checkout or you can find a code.

How long does it actually take for a new hosting package to be active after you sign up and pay? Need to get my site online asap.

J June 2 months ago
Mine was pretty much instant, or at least within an hour. They usually set you up super fast.

What payment options do they even take? Is it just credit card or can I use something like PayPal?

G Greg 3 months ago
Pretty sure they take the usual credit cards. Not sure about PayPal though, I paid with Visa.

I've always used a credit card with them. I don't recall seeing PayPal as an option, but you'd see it at the end of checkout if it's there.
